'Collision' hits No. 1

It's a monster mash-up. Jay-Z / Linkin Park: Collision Course, a set of fused tunes by the rapper and rock band, enters Billboard at No. 1 after selling 368,000 copies, enough to unseat U2, whose How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb drops to second place with 288,000 for a two-week take of 1.1 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It's good to be Jay-Z: The recently retired rapper has a No. 1 album and a new day job, heading up Def Jam Records.

Inaugural American Idol Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway bows at No. 3 with 250,000, just 10,000 copies more than third-season winner Fantasia's debut got a week ago.

Nas' Street's Disciple arrives at No. 5 with 232,000, followed by Shania Twain. T.I.'s Urban Legend makes its debut at No. 7 with 193,000, trailed by Now 17, Destiny's Child and Toby Keith. The only other newcomers to the top 50 are Josh Groban's Live at the Greek, No. 24 with 84,000, and Gerald Levert's Do I Speak for the World, No. 29 with 66,000.

Though weekly sales have fallen short of 2003 benchmarks for the past three months, album sales remain ahead of last year's pace by 2.6%
